Zeds Dead

Zeds Dead is an Electronic duo from Toronto, Ontario composed of DC and Hooks. DC and Hooks have been producing together since 2004, formerly as Mass Productions. Taking influence from the digging in the crates sampling school of hip hop, Mass Productions released one independent album in the summer of 2007 entitled Fresh Beetz. It is their first and only release to date.

In the summer of 2009 DC and Hooks launched Zeds Dead.

Zeds Dead played their first live set at The Social in Toronto on June 11, 2009. In September 2010, they founded a weekly party at the Toronto venue, 751 called Bassmentality, alongside The Killabits. Bassmentality moved to Wrongbar in November 2010. It became renowned for hosting the top international talents, and weekly performances from zeds dead and the killabits. Other past guests include Nero, Skrillex, Borgore, Mary Anne Hobbs, Plastician, Netsky, Breakage, 12th Planet, 16 Bit, Mat the Alien, Doctor P, Gemini, KOAN Sound, Hatcha, N-Type, Toddla-T, Untold, Pearson Sound, the top local talents, and countless others.

Despite their heavy touring schedule, Zeds Dead is still very involved with Bassmentality.

12th Planet

12th Planet, born John Dadzie, grew up in Los Angeles and was first introduced to the electronic music scene in high school when he regularly attended raves and jungle parties. After forming Imperial Recordings with DJ Lith, he launched his production skills on his own terms, originally producing drum and bass under the alias Infiltrata. In 2006, he decided that he was going to make dubstep. It was then that his new alias 12th Planet was created, in reference to Zecharia Sitchin's book, 12th Planet. All production under the name 12th Planet is original. As one of the first individuals to bring the dubstep culture to America (in one of the USA’s electronic meccas, Los Angeles) 12th Planet has frequently been cited as the American Dubstep King.

12th Planet works frequently with Orange County producer Flinch and LA Local Skrillex (on tracks "Father Said", "Needed Change" And "Burst" Along with Kill The Noise). He has also done collaborations with various dubstep producers including Datsik, Doctor P, Plastician, and Skream. Many well-known dubstep DJs (such as Rusko, Skream, Skrillex and more) use 12th Planets productions and remixes in their live DJ sets.

As a DJ, 12th Planet has toured globally in London, Australia, New Zealand, and across the US. He has also played at many American dance festivals such as Electric Daisy Carnival,Together As One, SXSW, Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, Ultra Music Festival, Nocturnal, and Beyond Wonderland. He is represented by AM Only, one of the largest agencies in the electronic music industry.

In 2009, 12th Planet was listed as one of URB.com's "Next 100", and had a special feature in their 25 Now! supplemental issue. 2010 marked the release of his music video for "Reasons", presented by Scion A/V, which was premiered and cycled on MTV 2. Diplo’s label Mad Decent included 12th Planet’s remix of Little Jinder's "Youth Blood" on their dubstep compilation "Blow Your Head", released in November.

Flux Pavilion

Joshua Steele, known professionally as Flux Pavilion, is an English dubstep producer and DJ. He is the co-founder of Circus Records, along with Doctor P and DJ Swan-E. He is best known for his 2011 single "Bass Cannon", which peaked at number 56 on the UK Singles Chart, and was placed on the Radio 1 A-List. Along with Doctor P, Flux Pavilion presented the 2011 compilation album Circus One, to which he contributed four tracks. In August 2011 his track "I Can't Stop" was sampled by producer Shama “Sak Pase” Joseph for hip-hop album, Watch the Throne by Jay-Z and Kanye West. On 5 December 2011, the BBC announced that he had been nominated for the BBC's Sound of 2012 poll.

Daft Punk are an electronic music duo consisting of French musicians Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo (born February 8, 1974) and Thomas Bangalter (born January 3, 1975). Daft Punk reached significant popularity in the late 1990s house movement in France and met with continued success in the years following, combining elements of house with synthpop. The duo is also credited with producing songs that are considered essential in the French house scene. They were managed from 1996 to 2008 by Pedro Winter (Busy P), the head of Ed Banger Records. Early in the group's career, the band members were strongly influenced by groups such as The Beach Boys and The Rolling Stones. Bangalter and de Homem-Christo were originally in a band called Darlin', which disbanded after a short period of time, leaving the two to experiment musically on their own.

The duo became Daft Punk, and released their critically acclaimed debut album Homework in 1997. The 2001 release Discovery was even more successful, driven by the club singles "One More Time", "Digital Love" and "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger". In March 2005, the duo released the album Human After All to mixed reviews. However, the singles "Robot Rock" and "Technologic" achieved success in the United Kingdom. Daft Punk toured throughout 2006 and 2007 and released the live album Alive 2007, which won a Grammy award for Best Electronic/Dance Album. The duo composed the score of the film Tron: Legacy and in 2010 released the soundtrack album of the film. Daft Punk are noted for their elaborate live shows, in which visual elements and effects are incorporated with the music. The group is also known for its emphasis on visual and story components associated with their musical productions, as well as for wearing ornate robot costumes in public and while performing.

Nero (Band)

Nero is a British electronic music act from London, England consisting of Daniel Stephens and Joe Ray with Alana Watson a vocalist, who are best known for producing drum and bass, dubstep and house. On 6 December 2010, Nero were announced as nominees for the BBC'sSound of 2011 poll.

Daniel Stephens and Joe Ray were both born in 1984 and spent their childhood in suburban Northwood, London. Ray played classical guitarand Stephen, encouraged by his jazz-loving father, played cello. By the time a mutual friend introduced them at the age of 15, Stephens was attending the specialist music school at Pimlico. Outside school both were making electronic music on home computers. They began working together at 17, setting up a studio in Stephens' bedroom. The latter has been already a fan of jungle music after seeing M-Beat featuring General Levy on Top of the Pops in 1994. Ray’s epiphany (according to Q), happened in the London club Fabric where the duo's ideas about DJing got cemented.

Nero's debut release was "Space 2001" as part of the "Straight Outta Leicester" three piece vinyl LP on Reformed Recordings in 2004. Nero's debut dubstep release was "This Way."

Sasha Frere-Jones, journalist for the New Yorker Magazine, listed Nero's remix of The Streets, "Blinded by the Lights" in his top songs of 2009. The track had radio airplay in the UK as well as being played by DJs including Chase & Status, Skream, Tiësto and Diplo.

Joel Thomas Zimmerman (born January 5, 1981), better known by his stage name deadmau5 (pronounced "dead mouse"), is a Canadian progressive, electro, and house producer based in Toronto. His tracks have been included in compilation albums such as In Search of Sunrise 6: Ibiza, MixMag's Tech-Trance-Electro-Madness (mixed by deadmau5 himself), and on Armin van Buuren's A State of Trance radio show. His debut album, Get Scraped, was released in 2006, followed by others in the next few years.

As well as his own solo releases, deadmau5 has worked alongside other DJs and producers, such as Kaskade, MC Flipside, Rob Swire of Pendulum, Skrillex, and Steve Duda under the BSOD alias. He is known for often performing in a titular costume head, which resembles a mouse head that he originally created while learning to use a 3D program. The so-called "Mau5head" appears in many different colors and designs, and has been shown on the cover of most of deadmau5's albums, with the exceptions of At Play and Vexillology.

Skrillex

Sonny John Moore (born January 15, 1988), better known by his stage name Skrillex, is an American electronic music producer and former singer–songwriter. Raised in Northeast Los Angeles, California, Moore joined the American post-hardcore band From First to Last as the lead singer in 2004, and recorded two studio albums with the band (Dear Diary, My Teen Angst Has a Body Count, 2004, and Heroine, 2006) before leaving to pursue a solo career in 2007. He began his first tour as a solo artist in late–2007. After recruiting a new band lineup, Moore joined the Alternative Press Tour to support bands such as All Time Low and The Rocket Summer, and appeared on the cover of Alternative Press annual 100 Bands You Need to Know issue.

After releasing the Gypsyhook EP in 2009, Moore was scheduled to record his debut studio album, Bells, with producer Noah Shain. However, he ceased production of the album and began performing under the name Skrillex. After releasing the My Name is Skrillex EP for free download on his official MySpace page, he released the Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites EP in late–2010 and More Monsters and Sprites EP in mid–2011. Both have since become a moderate commercial success. On November 30, 2011, he was nominated for a total of five Grammy Awards at the 54th Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist. On December 5, 2011, the BBC announced that he had been nominated for their Sound of 2012 poll. On December 12, 2011, he was also named MTV's EDM Artist of the Year, ranking in front of successful acts such as David Guetta and deadmau5.
